Oh, also. Murder. It goes so wildly unexamined in SFF, and I'm really tired of it. Why do we insist on killing things all the fucking time? It makes me actually tired, and the cognitive dissonance of enjoying something that ultimately is just about who can murder the most righteously has become harder to silence.

3. Series

I feel very curmudgeonly saying this, but first person and present tense, especially together, have become immediate turn offs for me. They soooo frequently take me out of the story and lend themselves to weird authorial intrusion. (I am fully hypocritical here bc my thesis was in 1st present).

And... Series... Just... Ugh. I don't have the energy for them. I ALMOST NEVER read the second book.

I made a ProtonMail account a while back, but I'm realizing that I don't use email for much of anything lolsob. Same goes for Wire, which none of my irl acquaintances use 😔

I took @guerrillarain's advice and bought myself Death Road to Canada, and now I'm hooked. Idk if I'll ever actually make it to Canada, but at least I'll meet some wacky weirdos along the way!

After 2016, it's been so hard to read any social theory/pedagogy published pre-2016. Not because the landscape fundamentally changed with the mounting election, but because it's so much clearer to me now all the ways we (even some of the most radical of us) were lying to ourselves. So little that I read published before 2016 feels honest anymore.

Sorry, but if you run a hipster café with really low couches with really low tables between them, I'm going to put my feet on the table while I read. And if you ask me to stop, I'm going to give you a look dirtier than your mustache.
